Devotion
The union of passion and purity, longing and loyalty, echoes through the poetry of Song of Solomon 1–3. Often seen as a depiction of romantic love, these chapters also whisper a deeper spiritual truth: God pursues His people with fierce affection.
“Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth—for your love is more delightful than wine.” (Song of Solomon 1:2)
“I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.” (Song of Solomon 2:16)
This book is a reminder that love is not shameful or shallow, but sacred when it flows from commitment and honor. Whether we read it as a celebration of covenant marriage or as a symbol of Christ’s love for His Bride, it invites us to see love as holy ground—not rushed, not reckless, but rich and reverent.
Psalm 72 is a kingly prayer for justice and peace—one that prophetically points forward to Jesus, the Righteous King: “May He defend the afflicted… crush the oppressor… endure as long as the sun.” (Psalm 72:4–5)
It is the King’s love that rules with justice and mercy—love that doesn’t merely feel but acts for the good of others.
And in 1 Thessalonians 5, Paul calls us to wakefulness in response to that kind of love.
“So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.” (v. 6)
“Encourage one another and build each other up.” (v. 11)
Just as love is alert and attentive, so are we to be—spiritually awake, prepared, and full of hope. In a world prone to numbness and distraction, God's people are called to live in the light, fueled by faith, hope, and love (v. 8).
Love, when rooted in Christ, is both tender and tenacious. It guards purity, seeks justice, and awakens hearts.

Prayer
Lord, awaken my heart to Your love and let it shape how I live. Help me to walk in the light, alert to Your presence and ready to encourage others. Grow in me a love that is pure, just, and joyful—grounded in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
