Devotion
In Jeremiah 21–23, God confronts leaders who failed to shepherd His people. Kings and prophets misused their positions, leading others astray and inviting judgment. Yet, amid these stern warnings, God promises the coming of a righteous King, the Branch from David’s line, who will reign wisely and bring true justice. This points us toward Christ, the Good Shepherd who leads His people with truth and love.
Psalm 133 paints a very different picture—a vision of unity among God’s people. Like oil running down Aaron’s beard or the dew of Hermon, unity is a blessing that refreshes and sustains. While Jeremiah condemns false leadership that divides and destroys, the psalm reminds us of the beauty of God’s people living together in harmony.
James 3 warns of the incredible power of the tongue. Just as corrupt leaders misled Israel with their words, so we, too, can cause harm through careless or destructive speech. James urges us to seek wisdom from above, which is pure, peace-loving, and merciful. Words spoken with this wisdom build up rather than tear down, bringing life rather than destruction.
Together, these passages remind us that leadership, unity, and speech are all tied to the condition of the heart. God calls us to follow Christ’s example as the Righteous King, to pursue unity in His body, and to use our words with humility and grace.

Reflection Questions
- In what ways am I influencing others—through leadership, example, or speech—and how can I align that influence with Christ’s truth?
- Psalm 133 highlights the blessing of unity. What steps can I take to promote unity and reconciliation in my family, church, or community?
- James 3 challenges us about the tongue. How can I surrender my words daily to God so they reflect wisdom from above?
Prayer
Lord, thank You for sending Jesus, the righteous King who leads us in truth. Help me to walk in His example, to pursue unity with my brothers and sisters, and to use my words for building up and not tearing down. May my life reflect Your wisdom, peace, and love. Amen.
