Devotion
Ezekiel 16–18 paints a powerful picture of God’s mercy and righteousness. In chapter 16, God describes Jerusalem as an abandoned child He rescued, raised, and blessed—but who later turned away in unfaithfulness. Yet even after betrayal, God promises to remember His covenant and restore His people. In chapter 18, He makes it clear that each person is responsible for their own sin and their own response to His mercy. God’s heart is revealed in His words: I take no pleasure in the death of anyone. Repent and live! His desire is not destruction, but redemption and life.
In John 6, Jesus declares that He is the Bread of Life. After feeding thousands, He teaches that true life does not come from physical food, but from Him—the One sent by the Father. Many struggle with this message, but Jesus’ words echo the heart of God revealed in Ezekiel: only through Him can we find life. Those who come to Him will never hunger or thirst again.
Together, these passages show the fullness of God’s heart. He is both just and compassionate, grieved by sin yet eager to forgive. His invitation is the same through every generation: turn from empty ways and find life in Him. Through Jesus, the Bread of Life, God fulfills His promise to restore what was lost and to nourish our souls with eternal grace.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your mercy that never gives up on me. You are just and compassionate, and through Jesus, You offer life that never ends. Forgive me when I turn to lesser things for satisfaction.
