Devotion
Few passages in Scripture offer the comforting clarity of Proverbs 3: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6)
These verses remind us that wisdom begins not with knowledge or performance, but with trust. Trust in the Lord means letting go of our need for control. It means submitting our plans, our fears, and our desires to His care. When we lean on His understanding, He doesn’t just give us guidance—He straightens the path.
Proverbs 4–5 reinforce this theme with both urgency and tenderness. A father pleads with his son to “get wisdom” (Proverbs 4:5) and to “guard your heart” (Proverbs 4:23). The path of wisdom is life-giving, but the path of foolishness is destructive.
“The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” (Proverbs 4:18)
Wisdom is not simply about right choices—it’s about the condition of the heart. What we treasure, pursue, and protect shapes our destiny.
In Romans 10, Paul speaks of another kind of clarity—the simplicity of the gospel: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
We don’t need to ascend to heaven or descend into the depths to find salvation. The Word is near—right here, in our mouths and in our hearts. It’s not about self-made righteousness, but about receiving the righteousness of Christ by faith.
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
Just as Proverbs calls us to walk wisely, Romans calls us to walk by faith—a faith that speaks, believes, and shares. A heart that trusts Jesus will overflow into a life that reflects His wisdom and declares His salvation.

Prayer
Father, thank You for the gift of wisdom and the beauty of Your truth. Teach me to trust You with all my heart and to surrender my understanding to Your greater plan. Help me guard my heart and walk in purity and faithfulness. And give me boldness to declare Your salvation, knowing that Your Word brings life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
