Trusting God’s Leading
Today's Reading
Old Testament
- Numbers 30-33
- Psalm 35
- Luke 3
Devotion
In Numbers 30-33, we see God's instructions for vows, His judgment on Midian, and the journey of Israel as they prepare to enter the Promised Land. Chapter 33 provides a detailed account of their wilderness journey—a reminder of God's faithfulness despite their struggles. Through victories, failures, and God's constant guidance, Israel was being shaped into His people. God also commands them to take possession of the land and remove all idolatry, ensuring that their hearts remain devoted to Him.
Psalm 35 reflects David’s cry for God’s protection and justice. He trusts that God is his defender and that ultimately, righteousness will prevail. Like Israel in the wilderness, David knew what it meant to face opposition, yet he trusted in God's deliverance.
In Luke 3, John the Baptist prepares the way for Jesus by calling people to repentance. He warns them not to rely on heritage or religious status but to produce fruit in keeping with repentance. When Jesus comes to be baptized, the heavens open, and God affirms His Son:
"You are my beloved Son; with You, I am well pleased." (Luke 3:22)
These passages teach us that God leads His people with purpose. Israel was not wandering aimlessly; God had a plan. David was not abandoned in his struggles; God was his defender. John prepared the way for Jesus, the fulfillment of all God's promises.
God is leading us, too. We may not always understand the journey, but we can trust that He is shaping us, calling us to repentance, and preparing us for His purposes. Just as Jesus was affirmed by the Father, we can rest in the truth that we are loved and guided by God.

Prayer
Father, thank You for leading me even when I don’t always see the way. Help me to trust You completely, to walk in repentance, and to follow Your purpose for my life. Strengthen my heart to rely on Your guidance, just as You led Israel, protected David, and prepared the way for Jesus. Thank You for calling me Your beloved child. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
