Devotion

In Exodus 4-6, we see Moses struggling with self-doubt and fear as he accepts God’s call to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Despite his insecurities, God reassures Moses by giving him signs and the support of his brother Aaron. Yet, even as he steps out in obedience, Moses faces opposition and disappointment. Pharaoh’s response to Moses is harsh, increasing the Israelites’ burdens and leaving Moses discouraged. Moses questions God, wondering why things have worsened since he began obeying the call. But God assures him that His promises will be fulfilled in His time and way. Moses’ story reminds us that God’s purposes often require perseverance and that His promises remain true even when we face setbacks.

In Galatians 6, Paul encourages the Galatian believers to support one another, writing, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2). Paul emphasizes that a life in Christ is marked by mutual support and humility. He also warns against pride and encourages each person to examine their own actions, focusing on their growth in Christ rather than comparing themselves with others. Paul’s words remind us that we are called not only to walk in faith personally but also to build up the body of Christ by loving and serving one another. When we carry each other’s burdens, we reflect Christ’s love and fulfill His call to love others as He has loved us.

Both Exodus 4-6 and Galatians 6 highlight the journey of obedience, the importance of community, and the need for perseverance. Moses had to rely on God’s strength, not his own abilities, to lead God’s people. Similarly, we are not meant to journey alone. God calls us to a community where we carry each other’s burdens, provide encouragement, and remind one another of His promises. Like Moses, we may face challenges as we step into God’s calling, but when we lean on Him and each other, we find strength to endure. Paul’s reminder to “not become weary in doing good” (Galatians 6:9) encourages us to keep going, knowing that in due season, God will bring about His purposes.

When we respond to God’s call and commit to supporting others in their faith, we experience the joy of walking in His will. Our calling is both personal and communal, a blend of faithful obedience and selfless love. By lifting each other up, we fulfill God’s desire for His people to live in unity, love, and purpose.

Reflection Questions

  1. Are there areas in your life where you feel like Moses, facing discouragement or doubt? How can you bring these to God in prayer?
  2. Who in your life needs encouragement or support today? How can you help carry their burdens?
  3. How can Paul’s encouragement to not “grow weary in doing good” inspire you to stay committed to your calling?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for calling us to serve You and for providing us with a community of faith. Help us to walk in obedience, trusting Your timing and relying on Your strength when we face challenges. Give us a heart to encourage others, to carry their burdens, and to build each other up in love. Remind us of Your promises when we grow weary, and help us to persevere with joy, knowing that You are faithful. Thank You for being with us every step of the way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
