Redemption Through Faithfulness
Today's Reading
Old Testament
- Ruth 3-4
- Psalm 37
- Acts 4
Devotion
The story of Ruth reaches a beautiful conclusion in Ruth 3-4, as we see God’s hand at work in redeeming Ruth and Naomi’s broken situation. Ruth courageously follows Naomi’s advice and approaches Boaz, asking for his protection and provision as a kinsman-redeemer. Boaz, a man of integrity, willingly steps in to redeem Ruth, bringing restoration to her life and securing a future for her family. This story ultimately points to Jesus, our true Redeemer, who brings us from spiritual emptiness to fullness in Him.
Psalm 37:5 reminds us: "Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this."
Ruth and Boaz both lived out this truth—faithfully following God's ways, and in return, experiencing His abundant blessings.
In Acts 4, we see another powerful example of God's faithfulness. After healing a lame man, Peter and John are arrested and brought before the religious leaders. Yet, instead of backing down, they boldly proclaim:
"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
Just as Boaz redeemed Ruth, Jesus is our ultimate Redeemer, offering salvation to all who trust in Him. Boaz acted out of love and obedience, just as Peter and John boldly declared the Gospel without fear. In both stories, we see the power of faithfulness and God’s unfailing provision.
When we trust in God's plan—whether in quiet faithfulness like Ruth, bold obedience like Boaz, or fearless proclamation like Peter and John—He moves in ways we could never imagine.

Reflection Questions
- How does Boaz’s role as a redeemer reflect what Jesus has done for us?
- In what areas of your life do you need to commit your way to the Lord, as Psalm 37 encourages?
- Like Peter and John, are you willing to boldly stand for Christ, even when it’s difficult?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for being my Redeemer. Just as You worked in Ruth’s life, I trust that You are working in mine. Help me to commit my way to You, to trust You fully, and to boldly live out my faith. May I walk in Your truth and proclaim Your goodness wherever I go. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
