Living by God's Word

Today's Reading

Old Testament
  • Deuteronomy 4-5
New Testament
  • Luke 6

Devotion

In Deuteronomy 4-5, Moses urges Israel to remember God’s commands and remain faithful. He reminds them that obedience leads to life and blessings:

"See, I have taught you decrees and laws as the Lord my God commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land you are entering to take possession of it." (Deuteronomy 4:5)

Moses then recounts the Ten Commandments, emphasizing that God’s laws were given out of love—to guide His people in righteousness and protect them from destruction.

In Luke 6, Jesus teaches His disciples a radical way of living. He calls them to love their enemies, to give generously, and to build their lives on a firm foundation. He challenges them:

"Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?" (Luke 6:46)

Both passages emphasize that following God's Word is not just about knowing it but living it. True discipleship is seen in our actions—whether we obey God in love and trust Him even when it’s hard.

Are you building your life on the solid rock of God's Word? Obedience brings blessing, and when we follow Jesus, we reflect His love and truth to the world.

Reflection Questions

  1. How are you actively living out God’s commands in your daily life?
  2. Are there any areas where you struggle to obey God? How can you surrender them to Him?
  3. How can you reflect Christ’s love, even toward those who are difficult to love?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word, which guides me in truth and wisdom. Help me not only to hear it but to live it out daily. Give me the strength to obey You, to love as Jesus loved, and to build my life on Your unshakable foundation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
