Devotion

As Joshua continues leading the Israelites in dividing the Promised Land, we see God fulfilling every promise He made to His people:

"Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled." (Joshua 21:45)

God’s faithfulness is unwavering, and His promises never fail. However, the Israelites had to step out in faith to claim what was already given to them. Just as they had to settle in the land and live in obedience, we too must walk in faith, actively trusting in God’s provision and direction.

In Psalm 15, David asks, “Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?” The answer describes a person of integrity: one who speaks truth, does no wrong, and honors God with their actions. Just as the Israelites were called to live righteously in their new land, we are called to live lives that reflect God’s holiness and truth.

In Luke 18, Jesus teaches about humility and persistent faith. He tells the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector, showing that God values humility over self-righteousness. He also commends childlike faith and warns against the dangers of wealth in the story of the rich young ruler.

Jesus reminds us:  "What is impossible with man is possible with God." (Luke 18:27)

Our faith must be active—like the Israelites claiming their inheritance, like the righteous person in Psalm 15, and like the humble hearts Jesus calls us to have.

Reflection Questions

  1. Are you fully trusting in God’s promises, even when they take time to be fulfilled?
  2. How can you live with integrity, ensuring your words and actions align with God’s truth?
  3. Do you approach God with humility and faith, like a child, or do you rely on your own strength?

Prayer

Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness and for always fulfilling Your promises. Help me to live a life of integrity and trust in You completely. Give me a humble heart, free from pride, so that I may follow You with childlike faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
