Today's Reading
Old Testament

- Psalm 90
- Philippians 1
Devotion
In Exodus 25-27, God provides Moses with detailed instructions for the construction of the Tabernacle, a sacred space where His presence would dwell among His people. Every element of the Tabernacle, from the Ark of the Covenant to the golden lampstand, reflects God’s holiness and His desire to be near His people. The intricacy of the design reminds us that God values order, beauty, and reverence in worship. The Tabernacle was not just a physical structure but a representation of God’s covenant relationship with Israel—a reminder of His faithfulness and their call to worship Him wholeheartedly.
Psalm 90 offers a reflection on the eternal nature of God and the fleeting nature of human life. Moses, the psalm’s author, prays, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12). This verse reminds us of the brevity of life and the importance of living with purpose. Moses acknowledges God’s power and faithfulness, asking Him to establish the work of our hands. This prayer reflects a desire to live a life that matters, grounded in God’s eternal purposes.
Philippians 1 encourages us to live lives worthy of the gospel. Paul expresses joy and gratitude for the believers in Philippi, thanking God for their partnership in spreading the gospel. He confidently declares, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6). Paul’s desire is that their love would abound more and more, leading to fruitful lives that glorify God. Even while imprisoned, Paul finds purpose in advancing the gospel and encourages believers to live with courage and unity.
Together, these passages point us to the importance of God’s presence, the purpose of our lives, and the hope we have in Christ. The Tabernacle reminds us that God desires to dwell with His people, and today, through Jesus, we are His dwelling place (1 Corinthians 3:16). Psalm 90 teaches us to make the most of the time God has given us, seeking His wisdom and aligning our work with His eternal purposes. Philippians 1 inspires us to live with joy, gratitude, and boldness, knowing that God is faithful to complete the work He has started in us.
Our lives, like the Tabernacle, are designed to glorify God. When we invite His presence into our daily routines, number our days wisely, and live for His purposes, we reflect His glory to the world around us.

Reflection Questions
- How can you make space for God’s presence in your daily life, much like the Israelites created the Tabernacle?
- What does it mean for you to “number your days” and live with a heart of wisdom as described in Psalm 90?
- How does Paul’s confidence in Philippians 1:6 encourage you to trust God’s work in your life and pursue His purposes?
Prayer
Lord, thank You for desiring to dwell with us and for making a way through Jesus Christ for us to live in Your presence. Teach us to number our days and to live with purpose, aligning our lives with Your eternal plans. Help us to abound in love, reflect Your glory, and trust that You will complete the good work You have begun in us. May we find joy and courage in serving You, knowing that our lives are in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
