A Faithful Heart and a Thankful Spirit
Today's Reading
Old Testament
- Joshua 14-17
- Luke 17
Devotion
In Joshua 14, we see Caleb as a powerful example of unwavering faith. At 85 years old, he boldly claims the land God had promised him, saying:
"Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day." (Joshua 14:12)
Caleb’s strength came not from his own ability, but from his complete trust in God's faithfulness. While others doubted, Caleb remained steadfast, and because of that, he was able to step into the promises of God. His life reminds us that age, circumstances, and obstacles do not limit God’s plans—only our lack of faith does.
In Luke 17, Jesus heals ten lepers, but only one—a Samaritan—returns to thank Him. Jesus responds:
"Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?" (Luke 17:17)
This moment highlights the importance of gratitude. While all ten experienced God’s power, only one responded with worship. Like Caleb, who never lost sight of God’s promises, the thankful leper never forgot the One who healed him. True faith is not just receiving from God but continually worshiping Him with gratitude.
